The Women’s Advocacy Center

Romona Jackson, Founding President and CEO

Romona Jackson, Founding President and CEO of The Women’s Advocacy Center, discusses how her organization serves as a resource for women who have experienced domestic abuse in East Shelby County. During the interview, Jackson shares what led her to start the nonprofit, their direct services and impact, lessons from her efforts, and how the community can help.

The Women’s Advocacy Center provides confidential wrap-around services focused on meeting the unique needs of women who are tying to establish new roots after leaving an abusive relationship. Our aim is to walk with these women and equip them to overcome harmful cycles of abuse.

We provide direct and indirect services to support women affected by domestic abuse.

Many women with limited options are forced to shelter with their abusers during this pandemic. Being isolated and not having access to information can be frightening.
