CodeCrew – Empowering Children and Adults to be Tech Innovators and Leaders

We mentor underrepresented youth to be tech innovators and leaders through practical, hands-on computer science education programs throughout Memphis.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Meka Egwueke, Executive Director of CodeCrew in Memphis, Tennessee, who highlights the nonprofit’s efforts to empower children and adults to be tech innovators and leaders. Founded in 2015, CodeCrew has mentored more than two thousand students from across Memphis through its innovative programs and events with topics ranging from web and mobile app development to robotics and drone programming. During the interview, Meka also shares exciting news of the CSforALL Summit coming to Memphis, and the recent generous $300,000 donation from Niantic, Inc., the developer of the popular mobile game Pokemon Go, and world’s leading augmented realty and mobile real-world company. The donation will allow CodeCrew to sustain and expand its valuable work to eliminate the digital divide and increase diversity in tech through computer science education.
