HopeWorks: Providing Hope Through Education, Employment & Empowerment

HopeWorks helps people in Memphis and the Mid-South find meaningful employment through adult education, employment services and holistic reentry.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Ron Wade, Executive Director of HopeWorks, who highlights how the Memphis, Tennessee-based nonprofit helps people in the Mid-South find meaningful employment through adult education, employment services and holistic reentry. During the interview, Ron offers more detail on some of their programs, including their English language courses, officially called Adult English as a Second Language, which offer support to immigrants, refugees, and non-native English speakers to strengthen language skills and help with cultural assimilation. He also talks about their efforts to help those who are or have been incarcerated, and their housing plans for the future, then discusses the power of relationships in lowering recidivism and how the community can support their efforts.
