Chamber Benefits, Inc. – Health Coverage Plan for Small Businesses

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Rob Recker, President of Chamber Benefits, Inc., which is a subsidiary of the Greater Memphis Chamber, who discusses a new health coverage option for small businesses through UnitedHealthcare, the largest insurer in the nation. The new option – level-funded health care – gives small businesses many of the same benefits that larger firms enjoy but with a structure and prices that are designed to meet their needs. Level-funded means Chamber members with 5-99 employees pay the same monthly premium for coverage throughout the year, and at the end of the year can get a surplus refund if claims are lower than expected. If claims are higher than expected, stop-loss insurance kicks in and protects the companies. Small businesse are encouraged to work through their brokers, like Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance, a Higginbotham partner, to learn more about the health coverage plan.
