Volunteers are needed for our Samaritan’s Feet Back to School Shoe Distribution with Las Americas on Saturday, August 20, from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM
Join us for a morning of service at our cityCURRENT – Samaritan’s Feet Shoe Distribution, hosted in partnership with Las Americas! Samaritan’s Feet Founder, Manny Ohonme will join us as we serve 300 kids from Las Americas, who’ve already been pre-selected from the nonprofit.
Volunteers are needed in many capacities, including event setup/prep, registration, foot washing, managing shoe inventory, handing out snacks, playing games, and more! We need 100 volunteers, so it’s a perfect opportunity to serve individually or as a team with your co-workers, friends, and family.
For more than ten years, we’ve helped thousands of kids and this event is always a favorite. The goal is to bring a message of hope, love, and compassion to everyone served. Every time we sit across from a child, we not only seek to meet their physical needs with a new pair of shoes, but we ask about their dreams and seek to build relationships here in our community.
Please help us spread the word and make plans to join us for the morning or at least an hour, so we can make a difference together in the city we love. Plus, there will be tacos for volunteers provided by the Taco Nganas food truck!
8:30-9:30 Event Prep and Set-up (shoe sorting, wash station set up, snack table set up, game set up, etc.)
9:30-10:00 Short Program to share the Samaritan’s Feet story and equip volunteers to interact with the kids
10:00-12:00 Foot Washing (volunteers are needed to be washers, we’ll also need other volunteers to help run check-in, monitor the shoes, help with fittings, change out the water, play games with kids, and more)
12:00 Celebretory tacos from the Taco Nganas Food Truck!
If you have a large group, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the number of volunteers and the estimated time frame for participation.
