Memphis River Parks Partnership

The Design/Planner will report directly to the Director of Special Projects and Design. The Special Projects team focuses on cultivating park activities & features that make the Memphis River Parks experience unique and meaningful. These efforts build upon the existing assets of the riverfront parks with thoughtful engagement, activations & long-term improvements.

Responsibilities:
The position responsibilities will be wide-ranging in support of the Partnership’s programmatic goals and advancement of special projects within the parks.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
o Assist in researching, designing and developing long-term parks vision and strategy plans
o Designing activations, planning, developing graphics, marketing packages, and budgets
o Design/build exercises including working with volunteers, Rangers and vendors in on-site projects o Project-specific community & stakeholder outreach, engagement and interpretation
o Evaluate the changing conditions of the parks, document challenges, suggest solutions and
supervise/collaborate with Field Operations team members and contractors to enact improvements.

Qualifications:
â—Ź 3 to 5 years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, community planning, urban design, horticulture or related fields.
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
â—Ź Clear verbal, written and illustrated/design communication.
â—Ź Self-motivated, self-directed and confident in their skill sets to work both independently and as part of a
team.
â—Ź Good time management with the ability to execute multiple competing projects and meet fast deadlines.
â—Ź Eagerness and comfort speaking with stakeholders and community members is required, as aspects of the
position will be public facing.
â—Ź Strong computer skills and a familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Dropbox, MS Office Suite and Google
Workspace.
â—Ź Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS and Rhino (or an alternate 3D modeling program) is helpful but not essential.
â—Ź Ability to work outside and interest in experiencing the unique environments of the park system
â—Ź Ability to work on some evenings and weekends when events pertaining to site activations and community
events may occur.
