10th National Suicide & the Black Church Conference in Memphis

This 2023 Conference will address factors that promote hopelessness; we will also hear testimonies from survivors of these losses and attempts.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Pastor Dianne Young from The Healing Center Full Gospel Baptist Church, who highlights the 10th National Suicide & the Black Church Conference, which convenes June 14-15, 2023 at Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Macon Campus (5983 Macon Cove, Memphis, TN 38134).

During the interview, Pastor Young shares the story of what led her and her late husband, Bishop William M. Young Sr., to co-found the conference, which is held every other year and designed to empower delegates to return to their places of worship, homes, workplaces and communities, equipped with tools and solutions for saving lives. This year’s theme is “Anchored in Hope,” and the event will showcase renowned expert presenters, sought-after guest speakers, break-out sessions, workshops, panel discussions, plenaries, a luncheon, and more to promote hope and healing. Jay Barnett, Ph.D., a former NFL player, who is an author and mental health expert, will be the luncheon’s keynote speaker on Thursday, June 15 at noon.
