NAMI Davidson County: Providing Mental Health Support

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Robin Nobling, Executive Director of NAMI Davidson County, who highlights NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), which has more than 600 affiliate chapters operating over all 50 states, and then the local efforts with NAMI Davidson County, which is an organization made up of people with the lived experience of a mental health condition, their families, friends, and community members. The organization dedicates itself to educating the public to understanding mental illnesses as biologically based medical issues, scientific research, clinical and social support, peer support and education, legislative advocacy and public awareness.

During the interview, Robin talks about their efforts and impact in Middle Tennessee, their education and outreach programs, groups and available resources, and how the community can support their efforts, like with an upcoming GloWalk in October. She shares some tips for employers and business leaders who want to be more intentional with their efforts around mental health, and also discusses the importance of 988 and the Partners in Care Police Co-Responder model.
