St. Luke’s Community House

As a staple in the Nashville community for 110 years, St. Luke’s has evolved and adapted programming to better serve children, families and seniors in need.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Amy Shurden, Chief Development Officer with St. Luke’s Community House, who highlights the nonprofit organization’s efforts to serve children, families, and seniors from diverse backgrounds and put them on a path for a better future.

During the interview, Amy shares some of the rich history, dating back over 110 years, and how St. Luke’s has continually responded to the needs of the community and has evolved into a place where residents from across Davidson County can access multiple services under one roof. She talks about their efforts to feed hungry individuals and families through their Food Bank and Mobile Meals programs; how they help prevent and end family homelessness and disrupt cycles of poverty through their Family Empowerment Program; and how their Preschool program prioritizes the needs of low-income families who cannot afford the rising cost of childcare, while providing literacy-rich education to 120+ students daily. She shares stories of impact, plans for the future, and how the community can get involved in supporting their efforts.
