Nashville Radio Show: Musicians On Call

It’s no secret that music can help you feel better. That’s why Musicians On Call brings music to the people who need it most – hospital patients.

Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. By delivering live, in-room performances to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds, we add a dose of joy to life in a healthcare facility.

20th anniversary – In 2019 Musicians On Call is celebrating 20 years of delivering the healing power of music. In that time the organization has reached more than 700,000 people in 20 major markets. Musicians On Call will celebrate with many different initiatives throughout the year, sharing the stories of the volunteers and patients who have experienced the organization’s programs, and special events honoring the people who have made the programs possible.

Technology – In 2018 Musicians On Call advanced its Virtual Bedside Performance Program, which broadcasts performances by Volunteer Musicians to patients at various healthcare facilities through Google Hangouts. The organization is in the process of developing a groundbreaking new program delivery model that uses technology to facilitate the relationship between healthcare facilities and trained volunteer musicians. Once completed, this project will transform how music is used to help patients heal not just in the US, but around the world.

Impact in Nashville – Musicians On Call brought its Bedside Performance Program to Middle Tennessee in 2007. Since then, more than 143,000 people have experienced the joy of a visit from a Musicians On Call Volunteer Musician and Volunteer Guide. Every week, volunteers visit facilities including Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Centennial Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Alive Hospice and the Nashville VA. Musicians On Call has also enlisted the talents of many well-known artists on Music Row to perform for local patients. Artists like Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Bryan and more have all experienced the impact of playing for patients at their bedsides.
