Founded in 1970, Nashville State Community College has been dedicated to bringing affordable and accessible higher education to Middle Tennessee for decades. Today, NSCC continues to prepare students for success with several campuses across Tennessee.
The mission of Nashville State Community College is to provide comprehensive educational programs and partnerships, exemplary services, an accessible, progressive learning environment, and responsible leadership to improve the quality of life for the community it serves. The college serves a broad geographic area comprised of Davidson, Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, and Stewart Counties.
Nashville State offers associate degrees and certificates that prepare students to think and perform well whether entering the workforce or transferring to a university upon graduation.
Mayor David Briley, Nashville State Community College (NSCC), and TCAT-Nashville, through their fiscal sponsor the Nashville State Community College Foundation, today announced the Nashville GRAD: Getting Results by Advancing Degrees program.
Nashville GRAD complements the State of Tennessee’s programs for tuition-free college, Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect, by removing other financial barriers beyond tuition. Financial assistance will cover expenses beyond tuition, including textbooks, transportation, tools and supplies, and industry certification fees.
Nashville GRAD, to begin in Fall 2019, will be implemented through a financial assistance fund that will include an annual financial commitment from Metro Government and, at full implementation, will serve more than 3,000 students each year. Mayor Briley has committed to including up to $1 million in Metro’s FY2019-2020 budget and up to $2.5 million annually after that.
