After playing in 122 career games with seven different teams including Detroit, Baltimore, Seattle, Indianapolis, Houston, and Jacksonville, Justin Forsett closed out his ninth and final season in the National Football League with the Denver Broncos.
Following his most successful season in the NFL, Justin was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015. He rushed for over 1,200 yards and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week twice during 2014.
Justin has a genuine desire to positively impact others with his message of perseverance through life’s disappointments. His witty and down-to-earth personality engages audiences as he shares his inspirational journey of hope, focus, determination and the importance of community service and legacy. Like cityCURRENT, Justin is an active supporter of Samaritan's Feet and a good friend to Tracie and Dr. Manny Ohonme, the organization's founders. As a special treat, Manny will be joining Justin for the event.
A native of Mulberry, Florida, Justin played collegiately at the University of California-Berkeley where he ranked third in school history with 3,220 rushing yards and fourth with 26 touchdowns. In his professional career, Justin rushed for 3,890 yards on 820 carries with 19 touchdowns. He added 210 receptions for 1,351 yards and one score. He played in nine games for the Jaguars in 2013 before injuring his foot, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season. He spent parts of four seasons (2008-11) with Seattle and the 2012 season with the Texans.
As for his entrepreneurial side, Justin is now well known for his appearance on the TV show, Shark Tank, and his company, ShowerPill. It all started when Justin and two fellow college football teammates, Wendell Hunter and Wale Forrester, found themselves in a very "stinky" situation, balancing hectic class schedules staggered between multiple sweaty workouts and practices each day at the University of California Berkeley. Since it was difficult for them to shower multiple times per day, the ShowerPill was created as a solution (skipping a shower is known as taking a "shower pill"). The ShowerPill is an extra-thick, premium wipe that works like a disposable washcloth. It's become very popular not only among athletes, but with those who have an active, on-the-go lifestyle, in general.
Since day one, the company has been grounded in giving back and it has made it a cornerstone of its mission. Through its #Shower2ThePeople initiatives, the company contributes body wipes to disaster relief efforts (where little running water is available), to the military and various nonprofits where products are needed.
Justin’s wife, Angela, was a standout volleyball player at Cal-Berkeley and was on the U.S. Women’s Volleyball team for 5 years. Justin and Angela reside in Texas with their three children, Judah, Zion, and Justice.
