Memphis International Airport serves more than four million passengers per year, and is the world’s 2nd busiest cargo airport. The airport continues to reinvent itself, transitioning from a hub to an origin and destination airport. As a result, the average airfare in Memphis has dropped by more than $180 since 2012, and enplanements have increased by nearly 80,000 passengers this fiscal year compared to last year. Origin and destination passengers are now at levels not seen since the hub days. The airport recently embarked on a multi-year modernization project that will result in the redesign of the B Concourse. The project is expected to be completed in 2021, and will feature more gate space, wider corridors, higher ceilings, more natural lighting, and additional amenities.
