Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Rob Hughes, Vice President of Development with Porter-Leath, who highlights the nonprofit’s efforts over more than 170 years to empower children and families to achieve a healthy, optimal and independent lifestyle. During the interview, he discusses some of their programs and impact, including Porter-Leath Preschool, Generations, Books from Birth, and their Teacher Excellence Programs. Rob then spotlights their 20th annual Toy Truck, which is an opportunity for the community to help kids see the magic of the holiday season by providing new, unwrapped toys and gifts for more than 2,500 local children (all under age 5) served by Porter-Leath. Toy Truck runs December 1-19, 2021. The pandemic has caused many families to eliminate discretionary funds, especially those that normally would be used for a holiday gift. Rob talks about what Toy Truck means to the children and families impacted and the many ways the community can support the effort.
