Impact100 Nashville

Impact100 Nashville exists to empower women to award large grants that transform lives.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Michele Herlein, President, Board of Directors with Impact100 Nashville, who shares the story of launching the women’s giving circle in 2014, which has now awarded $572,000 to worthy causes in the community since its inception. The organization is comprised of women from all walks of life who have come together to make a collective difference in the community. Each member donates $1,000 and has one vote to select a local nonprofit to award a collective donation at the end of the year. During the interview, Michele talks about the model, recent recipients of their donations, some of the feedback and testimonials received, how to get involved and more.

  1. What is Impact100 Nashville?

Impact100 Nashville is a women’s giving circle that was founded in 2014 and has awarded $572,000 to worthy causes in the community since its inception. We are women from all walks of life who have come together to make a collective difference in our community. Each member donates $1,000 and has one vote to select a local nonprofit to award our collective donation at the end of the year. We are one of more than 60 chapters in cities across the U.S.

  1. What is the mission of Impact100 Nashville?

Our mission is to harness members’ collective financial and philanthropic power to accelerate positive social change in the greater Nashville area. Our 2022 goal is to have 300 members and give away three $100,000 grants. Our ultimate goal is to reach more than 1,000 members and $1,000,000 in annual grants.

  1. How have you helped local nonprofits?

This year, we donated a total $204,000 to nonprofits including Mending Hearts, Inc. and Tennessee Kids Belong who each received a $102,000 grant. We conduct a thorough grant review process starting with a written application, virtual site visits and four finalists presented at our annual Voting Event and Celebration in November to select the winners.

We are pleased to support Mending Hearts, Inc. who help women restore their lives from addiction through a long-term treatment program and Tennessee Kids Belong who works to find forever homes for children aging out of foster care.

  1. How can people support Impact100 Nashville?

We are currently accepting new members for 2022 and welcome women who are interested in using their collective financial and social power to make a difference in the community. We’re conducting new member events from December – May to learn about the organization. Visit our website to learn more about our events or to join as a member at https://nashville.impact100council.org/.

We also need financial gifts to help cover overhead expenses related to running the organization. We need individual and/or corporate sponsors to support our organization with in-kind or financial contributions. And we always need volunteers to join or lead a committee, work on an event or contribute their talents in other ways.
