LITE Memphis – Closing The Racial Wealth Gap
LITE Memphis equips African-American/Latinx students with 21st-century skills to create wealth.
Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Terini DewBerry, who went through the LITE Memphis program as a student and now serves as a Volunteer Mentor, who shares her experience and the program’s impact on her life personally and professionally. LITE Memphis’ mission is to equip African American and Latino/a/x students with 21st century skills to create wealth. The organization is focused on closing the racial wealth gap by helping students become entrepreneurs and securing high-wage jobs. High school students join LITE by attending one of their community workshops. After attending a workshop, students are invited to join their Finalist Program. Finalists receive monetary support to launch their dream idea through their entrepreneurial curriculum. During the interview, Terini talks about the program, volunteer opportunities, internships, the power of supporting our youth, how the program has personally impacted her and her career, and much more.
