Host Jeremy C. Park talks with David Williams, Regional Director for Vitalant in Memphis, Tennessee and Tupelo, Mississippi, who highlights the national nonprofit blood service responsible for serving 900 hospitals nationwide, 15 in the Memphis area, and 22 out of their Tupelo operation. During the interview, David talks about the life-saving importance of donating blood during the holidays, which are particularly challenging times, and how one unit of blood saves up to three lives. He points out that only blood donated by a volunteer can be infused into a patient in a hospital, and why that matters locally, in terms of our ability to take care of our own loved ones and neighbors. He discusses how easy it is to donate as an individual or to organize drives through schools, churches, businesses and other groups.
