Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury & The power of home ownership

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Hannah Seegmiller, Homeowners Services Manager with Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury, who highlights the nonprofit organization’s mission and efforts to build affordable homes, stronger communities, and life-changing opportunities for qualifying families in Williamson and Maury Counties.

During the interview, Hannah shares some of the history and impact globally and locally, and then discusses how they partner with local families in need to provide financial literacy and educational resources, training and support to help families prepare for homeownership. Hannah then describes how the nonprofit serves as both the general contractor and the mortgage lender on all of the houses to build and sell energy-efficient, craftsman-style homes to families who do not qualify for conventional mortgage financing. She talks about the importance of their corporate sponsors and donors, the volunteers who help build the homes, and how the families are heavily involved all throughout the process. Hannah also touches on the importance of their work and the ripple effect it creates for family and community stability, and then how the community can get involved to support their efforts. Homeowner applications are being accepted through May 10, 2024.
