Music Box – The power of music transforms lives and communities

Music lessons & programs for children and adults.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Yelena Ovando, Co-Owner and Executive Director of Music Box, Inc., who shares what led her and her husband to launch the music school that offers transformational experiences for aspiring musicians and helps them become better, more confident versions of themselves, build life skills and foster creativity and personal and professional growth. Technology is at the core of every experience and Music Box teaches music as a language, as it can be heard, written, read and conveyed.

During the interview, Yelena talks about her and her husband’s musical background and the power of music to transform lives and communities. She highlights the different instructional opportunities with one on one or group lessons, camps, and both in-person and online programs. Music Box offers instruction with drums, piano, bass, guitar, voice, ukulele, and music production. Music Box has a location in Germantown, Tennessee, and during the interview, Yelena shares the exciting news that they soon will be expanding and opening another facility in Collierville. Yelena also talks about the diversity and breadth of experience with their team, and how they engage and support the community and nonprofits in many ways, including free live performances, working with Girl Scouts, and playing music at local children’s hospitals. She wraps up highlighting how Music Box is hosting an inaugural event tied to Make Music Day, which is a global music celebration on June 21, and how it will help shine a global spotlight on Germantown, the Memphis area, and the State of Tennessee.
