cityCURRENT Signature Speaker Series featuring Richard Casper, CreatiVets

Watch our Higginbotham and Hillwood hosted cityCURRENT signature speaker series event featuring Richard Casper, a Marine Corps Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, Artist, Entrepreneur, and songwriter with over 70 placements in film and TV. He is the co-founder and Executive Director of CreatiVets, a nonprofit that empowers wounded veterans with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries to heal through art and music.

Richard’s story is one of resilience and inspiration. Serving in the USMC from 2003-2007, he initially served as a Presidential Guard at Camp David and later survived four IED blasts during his tour in Iraq, resulting in a traumatic brain injury and severe post-traumatic stress. Through his journey of recovery, he discovered the therapeutic potential of art and songwriting, which led him to graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and eventually co-found CreatiVets. Richard has been named a CNN Hero and one of TIME Magazine’s Next Generation Leaders, and has been recognized by President George W. Bush for his life changing work with veterans.
