Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Jason Pazirandeh, the Adult Category honoree for the 38th Annual Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards with Hands On Nashville, who shares his inspiring story of moving to Nashville as a young professional and how his desire to meet new people and get involved in the community has led him to discover a higher purpose with his own life with deeper connections to others and his new home city.
During the interview, Jason shares how he has used Hands On Nashville to find local opportunities to serve, and how his first experiences volunteering at the food bank with Inspiritus transformed his perspective on the importance and power of volunteerism. He also talks about working with the American Red Cross and local fire departments to install free fire alarms and weather radios in high-risk homes across Middle Tennessee, and how he started to take a leadership role in helping to make more than 1,000 homes safer. Jason talks about how his volunteerism has fostered new friendships, deepened his connection with Nashville and Middle Tennessee, enhanced his grant writing, elevated his skills and experience as a leader, and transformed his view of what it means to be a “Community Champion.” He wraps up by offering to help anyone looking to get involved, so they, too, can benefit from the power of volunteerism while working together to make a difference in the lives of others and in the community.
