Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Karyn Whittington, 2024 President of Les Passees, Inc., who highlights the women’s volunteer organization that provides advocacy and support to enhance the quality of life for children and their families in the Memphis area.
During the interview, Karyn talks about the organization’s legacy dating back over 110 years and how their members focus on creating a stronger Memphis by volunteering and fundraising to give financial support to the Les Passees Kids on the Block puppet troupe and various children’s charities. She discusses their Grants Program and notes some of the recent nonprofit recipients, and then talks about their Les Passees Kids on the Block, which uses child-size puppets to educate children about social concerns and differences, giving them the skills to stay safe and healthy.
Karyn then spotlights their Les Passees Stock Exchange, an annual pop-up, upscale consignment shop that is a one-stop shop to furnish your home and find sought after collectibles. You can consign items for sale with Les Passees receiving 30% of the proceeds to support their charitable efforts as a fundraiser. The Preview Party will be held September 5, 2024 from 5-8 PM and tickets are available for $30 online in advance or $35 at the door. The location is 5258 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. Public shopping then takes place from September 6 to October 31, 2024. Karyn wraps up talking about the importance of the Les Passees Stock Exchange, how the organization has impacted her life, and how women are invited to participate to help make a difference and make life-long friends, in the process.
