12/14: Soles & Smiles Samaritan’s Feet Shoe Distribution

Register to Volunteer

We are excited to invite you to one of our most cherished volunteer experiences! For over 14 years, we’ve been hosting the Samaritan’s Feet Shoe Distribution, and we hope you’ll join us again this year on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (CT).

This year’s event will take place at Las Americas (New Location: 1500 S. Perkins Rd., Memphis, TN), and we’re honored to have Samaritan’s Feet Founder, Manny Ohonme, with us as we serve 300 children from Las Americas. These children have been pre-selected through the nonprofit, and we’re looking forward to providing them with new shoes, hope, and a sense of love and compassion.

We need 100 volunteers to assist in various roles, including event setup/prep, registration, foot washing, shoe inventory management, serving snacks, playing games with the kids, and more. Volunteering individually or alongside your co-workers, friends, and family is a wonderful opportunity!

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of children, and each event has been a special experience filled with hope and connection. Our goal is to not only meet the physical needs of each child by providing new shoes and socks but also to engage with them, listen to their dreams, and build meaningful relationships in our community.

In addition to shoes and socks, we’re proud to partner with Delta Dental of Tennessee and the Smile180 Foundation to offer dental screenings for all participants. We’ll also share words of encouragement through Hope Notes—thanks to many of you who contributed at our recent signature breakfast—and provide snacks and other special gifts from our partners and supporters.

Please help us spread the word and make plans to join us for the morning or even for just an hour. Together, we can make a lasting difference in these children’s lives and the city we love.

Agenda:
8:30-9:30 am – Event Prep and Set-up (shoe sorting, wash station set up, snack table set up, game table set up, etc.)
9:30-10:00 am – Short program to share the Samaritan’s Feet story and equip volunteers to interact with recipients.
10:00-12:00 pm – Foot Washing shoe distribution and dental screenings (Volunteer roles are registration/greeter, foot washer, runner, shoe area, water team, play games with kids, and more).
12:00 pm – Celebratory tacos from the Tacos Nganas Food Truck!

Thank you again for joining cityCURRENT and serving others; we couldn’t impact the community without you!
