Men of Valor, growing ministry helping men inside and outside of prisons

We help them to become the men, husbands, fathers, and members of society that God created them to be.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Mark Hodge, Reentry Team Lead with Men of Valor, who highlights the nonprofit ministry that is reaching out to incarcerated men, encouraging them with the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, training them in the Biblical principles of manhood, and with a very structured plan, helping them to become the men, husbands, fathers, and members of society that God created them to be. Men of Valor is committed to winning men in prison to Jesus Christ and discipling them. The organization’s purpose is to equip them to re-enter society as men of integrity – becoming givers to the community rather than takers. Nationally, 70% of men released from prison will return. However, through Bible-based programming, aftercare/re-entry services, and the involvement of committed staff and volunteers, Men of Valor’s success rate beats both national and statewide statistics. In fact, for men who complete Men of Valor’s 6-month program inside the prison and 12-month program outside the prison, the recidivism rate is below 15%.

During the interview, Mark shares his personal story of how he was introduced to Men of Valor and discusses why the work is so important and effective in transforming the men and helping to lift our community. Mark talks about some of the barriers to re-entry and how his team helps the men successfully overcome those barriers by working with employers and the community. He discusses the growth of the ministry, including a new building that will be opening in 2025, and how the community can get involved in supporting their efforts through mentorship, job opportunities and financial contributions.
