Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Mary-Linden Salter, Executive Director of Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug & other Addiction Services (TAADAS), who highlights the statewide association that unites professionals in alcohol and drug treatment, prevention, and recovery, along with others dedicated to addressing addiction.
During the interview, Mary-Linden talks about how the nonprofit organization has grown and evolved over the years as a center of excellence committed to advocacy, community engagement, and education while fostering strong connections among recovery providers. She discusses their programs and services, including their training programs, their Clearinghouse where free resources are provided, their advocacy efforts and current work on the Good Samaritan law protections, and the Tennessee REDLINE, which is a toll-free information and referral line coordinated by TAADAS (800-889-9789). She details some of the current issues being faced with gambling addictions, especially with more young adults engaging in online sports betting, and the fatal overdose epidemic, and talks about some of the positive work being done to help. Mary-Linden wraps up recapping the recent Hands Across the Bridge event and how the community can support their efforts.
