Zach highlights the connections between service, spiritual values, and community engagement, and how these can be leveraged to make meaningful community impacts.
Zach explains his research approach to studying positive traits and human flourishing, focusing on nine key building blocks including positive emotions, engagement, relationships, purpose, accomplishment, physical health, mindset, environment, and economic security. He describes how the Claremont Flourishing Center coordinates scholars and teaching faculty to help communities develop specific building blocks based on their needs. Zach outlines their three-step model of reflection, connection, and direction to help individuals assess their current flourishing levels and plan for future growth.
Zach explains that Positive Education provides customized consulting services to help organizations implement well-being practices beyond basic education, working with teams to design systems that support lasting well-being. He describes how the approach varies depending on each organization’s unique needs and challenges, giving an example of working with organizations to enhance leadership potential by identifying strengths and addressing obstacles. Jeremy notes that flourishing is a personal and ongoing journey that requires constant intentional effort, both for individuals and organizations.
