DAY 7: Preventing burnout by helping nonprofit and ministry staff thrive.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Kendal Beard, Outreach Director with DAY 7, who highlights the Nashville, Tennessee-based nonprofit organization that provides curated and affordable self-care resources to help nonprofit and ministry staff thrive in their roles.

During the interview, Kendal shares some of the background to launching DAY 7 as a result of burnout and high staff turnover being too common within nonprofits and churches, and knowing the importance of taking care of those who take care of so many others. Kendal covers the range of programs that support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, including Self-Care Plans, Workshops and Retreats, and DAY 7 Groups, which are long term peer-based support groups built to provide a place for like-minded professionals to be heard and to grow. Kendal shares some of her own experiences with burnout and talks about how the focus on self-care has shifted since the pandemic, then wraps up with ways the community can support DAY 7 to help care for the carers and those serving on the frontlines of our communities.
