Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Angie Brantley, Founder and Executive Director of TenThirtyFive, who highlights the Middle Tennessee-based nonprofit organization’s mission and efforts to instill confidence, dignity and worth through mentorship and fashion for at risk young women.
During the interview, Angie shares some of her personal story and what led her to launch the upscale thrift enterprise, where young women can shop for free. They are welcomed in with a voucher to shop for clothing, shoes, accessories and more, and take home a bag of beauty care and hygiene products upon each visit. To help fund the charity, clothing donations are accepted and women in the community can shop the upscale thrift stores Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Angie talks about the organization’s growth with multiple locations and more planned in the future, along with their community closets and mobile efforts to work with schools and bring needed clothing to students. Angie shares how the clothing opens the opportunity to build relationships with the young women and to build them up through mentorship, as volunteers meet with groups once a week and cover topics like resume writing, finding strengths, mock interviews, and more. She wraps up talking about ways the community can get involved and support their efforts, including an upcoming Fashion Show June 2nd at 2pm and Prom Store.
