Higginbotham Insurance: Personal Lines Insurance Industry Updates

Jeremy C. Park talks with Mary Russell, President of Private Client Services with Higginbotham Insurance, who provides an overview of the employee-owned and customer-inspired insurance and financial services broker that specializes in business insurance, employee benefits, personal insurance, life insurance, risk management and more. Higginbotham is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, with offices in numerous cities and states across the southern part of the United States, including in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee.

During the interview, Mary shares some of the history for Higginbotham Insurance as employee #15 and how it has grown over the years to almost 4,000 employees. She talks about some of the key differentiators in being a broker with hundreds of options to help clients, Higginbotham’s Day 2 Services where additional support is offered to help clients on a number of fronts with challenges and opportunities, and why being generous to the community and supporting nonprofits is so important to the employees and company.

She then talks about some of the important trends in personal lines insurance and why it is a “hard market” right now with an increased number and variety of natural disasters happening in more populated areas of the United States, increases in litigation, and historical increases in costs of materials, labor, and the number of claims. She shares recommendations for ways you can manage your insurance renewals and look for discounts, as well as how claims and your credit can impact your policy renewals. She also discusses why Cyber Liability is not just for businesses, but personal insurance, as well. Throughout the interview, Mary offers a number of helpful tips and recommendations to help protect your assets and family.
