Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Chris Barnhill, Executive Director of Franktown, who highlights the nonprofit organization’s mission and efforts to “inspire, empower, and equip the at-risk youth in Franklin, Tennessee.”
During the interview, Chris shares how the organization started and has evolved to now offer 35 programs and provide educational assistance and vocational training to school-age children every day after school and all day long during the summer months. He spotlights some of the different programs, ranging from Tutoring to Culinary Arts, Automotive to Sewing, Woodworking to STEAM, and Leadership Development. Chris then talks about why these programs are so important for exposing youth to new experiences and career opportunities so they can see what they can be, and also help build their character, confidence and work ethic that will help them be successful in life.
He shares a success story and talks about how 100% of their graduates over the last eight years have “launched” (gone on to college, trade school, internship, or gone straight into the job market) and how that is helping to break the cycle of generational poverty and also help the community at large. Chris wraps up talking about their new piece of property, where they will be building a 16,000 sq. ft. building to bring all of their programs under one roof and expand their efforts and impact, upcoming events, including their drive-through Christmas Lights display held at the Williamson County AG Expo Park (Nov. 16-Dec. 31, 2024) and how the community can support their efforts, especially through volunteerism.
