Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Mindy Bess, General Manager of the James Bess Foundation, who highlights the nonprofit named in honor of her father, Army Veteran James Bess, who passed away in 2002 from brain cancer.
During the interview, Mindy talks about her father and how his unmet wish to meet Garth Brooks became the inspiration that led her to establish the nonprofit organization that grants Final Dreams for adults between the ages of 21-65 battling a terminal illness. Mindy discusses the process and some of the recent Final Dreams they have been able to grant. She talks about the importance and impact of their efforts, and how the experiences with family become treasured memories and motivation to fight the illness. Mindy highlights one of their newer programs, the Power of Music Outreach, which partners with singer/songwriters in the Nashville, Tennessee area to instill hope and joy through the power of love and music by performing at Tennessee Oncology at St. Thomas West. She also talks about opportunities to join the James Bess Foundation board and how the community can support their efforts.
