Path United – Supporting kids growing up in mobile hope parks

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Margaret Jane Strelecki, Regional Director with Path United, who highlights the nonprofit organization focused on “inspiring kids growing up in mobile home parks on their path to become flourishing adults.”

During the interview, Margaret Jane shares how the organization started in 2008 after co-founders, Melinda and Jim Hollandsworth, met one family living in a mobile home community near their home and how a decision to help has evolved into multiple community centers and a dedicated team of staff and volunteers helping equip kids through positive relationships and empower them socially and emotionally. Margaret Jane shares how Path United started in Franklin, Tennessee and shares their model of operating community centers inside mobile home parks where children experience the love of Christ through positive relationships and intentional weekly programming.

She highlights their Five Ingredients to Flourishing: 1) Relationship with God; 2) Multiple Positive Adult Relationships; 3) Strong Reading Skills; 4) Social and Emotional Health; and 5) Vision for Their Future. She also provides some context around the families they support, shares some success stories, and talks about how easy and powerful it is to serve as a volunteer. She wraps up talking about how the experience has transformed her view of community and herself, and how it has created new friendships that have greatly enriched her life.
