Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Mike Simmons, President of Mustaches for Kids Nashville, who highlights the local chapter of Mustaches for Kids America, a volunteer-run nonprofit organization started to do good and have fun by growing Mustaches for children’s charities.
During the interview, Mike shares how the organization started in Los Angeles in 1999 and how he was introduced to it in his hometown, then decided to launch the organization four years ago in Nashville, Tennessee as a way to make a difference. He discusses the model where men get pledges/donations to grow a mustache for one month and how those dollars are then donated to local children’s charities. The 2024 Grow Season is themed “Rad Dad” and runs from approximately November 7 to December 5, 2024. Past charities include High Hopes Development Center, Barefoot Republic Camp & Retreat Center, and Williamson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Mike highlights the past charities and shares some testimonials from the men, in terms of how Mustaches for Kids Nashville connects them to the community, allowing them to make new friends, support each other and find purpose in giving back to local nonprofits. He wraps up talking about opportunities for corporate sponsors, some of the exciting Grow Season events that will be scheduled for the men, and the season ending Stachie Awards, where everyone comes out to celebrate.
