Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Erica Mitchell, Executive Vice President and Chief Impact Officer, and CEO-Elect who will be the new Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Greater Nashville beginning January 1, 2025, along with Alberto Gonzales, Former Attorney General of the US, Dean of Belmont Law School, and Board Chair for United Way of Greater Nashville, who both highlight the nonprofit organization working to united the community and mobilize resources so that every child, individual, and family thrives.
During the interview, Erica and Alberto discuss the power of collaboration in the community and how the organization helps fund and support more than 100 partner agencies, and works together with 128 additional organizations to fulfill its mission in four areas: 1) Breaking the cycle of poverty; 2) Giving kids an equal chance; 3) Building strong, healthy communities; and 4) Meeting our neighbors’ basic needs.
They talk about how their service area has grown to nine counties and highlight the mergers with United Way Clarksville and Hands On Nashville, where their team is now able to engage with the community in a deeper and more strategic way through volunteerism, and to help mobilize volunteers for disaster relief efforts. Erica shares her excitement for stepping into the role of CEO in 2025, and Alberto offers his praise to the United Way of Greater Nashville team for their leadership and efforts, and both offer their encouragement for the community to support their efforts through volunteerism, advocacy and giving to help make a difference.
