Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Andy Mears, Regional Director – West Tennessee with Tennessee Golf Foundation, which manages First Tee – Tennessee in Memphis, who highlights the international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after-school and in-school programs, First Tee helps shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect, and perseverance through the game of golf. The First Tee – Tennessee in Memphis is the leading organization for junior golf in Memphis and provides a wide variety of programs that allow opportunities for beginner and advanced players to improve their game and learn life skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives, like setting up step-by-step goals, conflict resolution, and planning for the future.
During the interview, Andy shares some of his professional background with golf and First Tee, how he has fallen in love with Memphis after stepping into the Regional Director – West Tennessee role in August 2023. He talks about some of the ways he and the organization are re-imagining the program and discusses some of the exciting new programs and enhancements for 2025, including new programming over the winter.
