Germantown Education Foundation efforts to support schools and teachers

Through grants, projects and initiatives, we help advance the academic achievement of students by improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Elaine Hare, Executive Director of the Germantown Education Foundation, who highlights the nonprofit organization’s mission and efforts to mobilize community resources to support and benefit schools and educational programs in the Germantown Municipal School District. The Germantown Education Foundation raises funds to directly support the public education of children in Germantown, Tennessee. Through grants, projects, and initiatives, the organization helps advance the academic achievement of students by supporting the teachers, schools and district to enhance learning and fund important projects that would otherwise go unfunded.

During the interview, Elaine discusses their Grant program and new Mini-Grants, where teachers can apply once in a school year for a $500 grant to fund programs, training, and/or educational assets (books, games, tools, etc.). The organization has funded nearly 60 mini-grants since the new program began in September 2023. She talks about upcoming events, including their Run for Education (Certified 5k and Family Fun 1-Mile Color Run) on Sunday, April 21, along with their Lemonade Stand Day on May 4, and Summer Soiree on July 20. She discusses the importance of volunteerism and community support and how companies and individuals can take next steps to get involved.
